Leaf Gauge

999.00

Leaf gauge is a bunch of smooth, flexible mylar sheets (≈0.1 mm in thickness) stacked on top of each other. The basic philosophy is to separate posterior teeth by placing the gauge between the anterior teeth (along the midline) and allowing the patient’s own neuromusculature to seat the condyles in their CR position. Number of leafs can be increased sildenafil pris or decreased to control the amount of vertical opening in millimeters.

Description

Indications

For quick deprogrammation and for identification of the first point of CR contact intraorally.

For recording CR position.

When performing reductive occlusal equilibration in the patient’s mouth.

Contraindication

Patients with strong elevator muscles in combination with a deep overbite, as the flexible gauge can potentially exert a distalizing force on the condyle.

Technique

With the patient reclined in the chair, the leaf gauge with an arbitrary number of leaves (typically 5-8) are to be positioned along the midline such how to avoid side effects of deca-durabolin that it is parallel to the palatal plane of the maxillary central incisors.

The patient is then asked to close until the lower incisors contact the underside of the leaf gauge, making sure back teeth do not touch. In case they do, more leafs need to be added to achieve the desired posterior separation.

The patient is then instructed to move the jaw forward-back and then clench down onto the mylar strips and asked to report awareness of any posterior tooth contact.

Based on the patient’s response, leafs are added or subtracted until a small amount of posterior disclusion is achieved.

Next, the patient is asked to hold the leaf gauge in position for 2 to 5 minutes. If the patient confirms absence of posterior tooth contact, load testing is to be attempted to verify centric relation.

The final CR record is then to be made using A-Silicone bite registration paste.
